Comprehensive Privacy Policy

Transparent data practices to protect your legal rights and personal identity.

Effective Date: March 2026

1. Introduction & Scope

Welcome to our Legal Portal. We recognize that legal matters are highly sensitive. This comprehensive Privacy Policy dictates how we collect, store, process, and protect your Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and case details. This policy complies with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 of India.

By accessing our platform, registering as a client or a lawyer, or submitting a legal query, you explicitly consent to the practices outlined in this document.

2. Information We Collect

To provide a seamless legal matchmaking experience, we collect the following categories of data:

  • Identity & Contact Data: Full name, email address, mobile number, and city/state of residence.
  • Case & Legal Data: Descriptions of your legal issues, category of law (e.g., Civil, Criminal, Family), and any documents you voluntarily upload during private consultations.
  • Professional Data (For Lawyers): Bar Council Enrollment Number, practice areas, experience, and office address.
  • Technical & Usage Data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and platform interaction logs (via Cookies) to enhance platform security.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is strictly utilized for rendering the services you request. We do not sell or rent your personal data to third-party marketing agencies. The usage includes:

  • Creating and managing your user or lawyer account.
  • Connecting your specific legal queries with the most relevant legal experts.
  • Sending system notifications (e.g., when a lawyer replies to your query).
  • Preventing fraud, spam, and ensuring the safety of our platform ecosystem.

4. Public Forum vs. Private Consultations

It is vital to understand the difference between how data is handled depending on the feature you use:

A. Public Legal Forum (Ask a Query)

Queries posted on the public forum will display the Subject and Description of your case publicly to help others learn. However, your Identity (Name, Phone, Email) is completely masked/hidden from the public eye. Do not write personal names, bank details, or sensitive evidence in the text of public queries.

B. Private Direct Consultation

When you send a direct message to a specific lawyer via their profile, the communication is End-to-End Confidential. Only the selected lawyer and authorized platform administrators (for safety monitoring) have access to these messages and your contact details.

5. Boundary of Attorney-Client Privilege

Please note that simply posting a question on our Public Forum does not establish an Attorney-Client relationship. Therefore, public posts are not protected by Attorney-Client privilege.

An Attorney-Client relationship is only formed when you officially engage a lawyer through a private consultation, pay their consultation fee (if applicable), and mutually agree to their specific terms of representation.

6. Sharing and Disclosure of Data

We restrict the sharing of your data strictly to necessary parties:

  • Verified Lawyers: We share your contact details and query exclusively with verified lawyers registered on our platform so they can assist you.
  • Service Providers: Third-party services like SMS gateways, Email servers, and Payment Gateways (which are bound by their own strict confidentiality agreements).
  • Legal Authorities: We may disclose information if mandated by a court order, government request, or to protect the legal rights and safety of our platform and users.

7. Data Security Measures

We deploy robust, industry-standard security protocols to guard against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction of your data. This includes Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption, secure firewall-protected databases, and strict role-based access control for our administrative staff.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by Indian law. If you delete your account, your personal profile data will be erased, but anonymized versions of your public forum questions may remain for educational purposes.

9. Your Rights (Under DPDP Act)

As a user, you possess significant control over your data:

  • Right to Access: You can request a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Correction: You can update or correct inaccurate data via your dashboard.
  • Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can request the permanent deletion of your account and private queries.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You can opt-out of promotional communications at any time.

10. Grievance Officer & Contact

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, we have appointed a Grievance Officer to address any privacy concerns or discrepancies you may face.
